Orchid Show: Mexican Modern
Media Preview at the New York Botanical Garden
Tuesday, 11 February 2025

Let's call this a preview of today's exclusive Media Preview for The Orchid Show: Mexican Modernism, the 22nd edition of NYBG’s annual celebration of all things orchid. Espléndido, maravilloso, fabuloso! Perhaps you can guess why this is just a brief preview rather than a lengthier entry, when I mention that I took more than 100 images. I need to select more, edit more, write more. Meanwhile . . .

A long view of the bold multicolor display in the gallery, inspired
by the designs of Luis Barragán, renown Mexican architect.

Masses and masses of orchids. Each is well worth a closer look. Just enjoy
and appreciate the dainty coloring of this phalanopsis. Many are labeled.

Some of the media / influencers were forethoughtful enough to chose harmonious
clothes. This charming woman wore a shawl she had knit. It took her a month
with some helpful assistance of her two cream colored Persian cats.

Mark Saldana, hellotones, "El Hijo de PueblaYork"hellotones. Music, dancers, audience clapping

Cumbia dance by el mero mero maestro del baile sonidero - Cumbia Sonidera, Cumbias Mezcladas and

the regional variations of cumbia from cumbia colombiana, ecuatoriana, peruana, and mexicana.

Tomorrow I will edit more images. I will think how to sequence them.
Write the captions with words that will do justice to this vibrant event,

even as winter reminds us that it is not yet finished with snow.

Your turn will come, February 15 through April 27, 2025.
